At BirthBox our primary goal is to lower infant mortality rates in developing countries and across lower socioeconomic groups. Though not any single solution can solve this complex issue, our approach aims at lowering mortality rates through education, bonding and empowerment. We hope to equip mothers, fathers, those supporting mothers during pregnancy, and those supporting children during birth and infancy with the confidence needed to care for and believe in the next generation when at its most vulnerable.

Our desire is to demystify pregnancy, birthing and early childhood through the upbringing of community birthing experts who are able to sustainably lead and serve their communities creating long term change and progressively decreasing infant mortality rates. We believe childbirth education empowers women with the confidence and ability to make informed choices regarding their childbirth experience and the initial bonding time after birth that is vital for future empowerment.

We also believe that community engagement and support is key. The strength found in the support of peers and mentors is integral to program success; therefore, we aim to bring together mothers, fathers, those supporting mothers during pregnancy, and those supporting children during birth and infancy through our public Safer Birth, Family Bonding and Family Planning educational campaigns. 

Participation in the educational campaigns is encouraged through the use of The BirthBox as an incentive given to those who complete the training courses. The BirthBox contains practical support items designed to compliment the educational campaigns and provides every child with a safe and clean sleeping environment eliminating the sanitation and hygiene issues associated with sleeping on the ground or in the same environment as animals.
